Every winter my home spreads this divine fragrance which makes everyone impatient to eat freshly made winter laddoos.This recipe is a traditional Indian recipe of mouthwatering energy balls that are a health essential in Indian winters. Do try them out!
Ingredients
- 1 cup grated dry coconut
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds (khaskhas)
- 2 teaspoons white sesame seeds
- 75 gms edible gum - dink
- 3 tablespoons chopped almonds
- 3 tablespoons chopped cashewnuts
- 50 gms Dry dates powder - Kharik Powder
- 3/4th cup grated or crushed Organic Jaggery
- 4 to 5 tablespoons Desi Cow Ghee
How to make Dink Laddo?
Step 1 - Roasting the dry coconut
- Heat a kadhai and dry roast the grated dry coconut
- Roast it until it gets a golden brown colour
- Remove from Kadhai and keep aside
Step 2 - Roasting Poppy seeds and Sesame seeds (optional)
- In the same hot kadhai, take the poppy and sesame seeds
- Roast them until the sesame seeds turn a little pink
- Remove from Kadhai and keep aside
Step 3 - Frying the Dink / Gondh / Edible gum
- Heat 3 to 4 tablespoon of Desi Cow Ghee in the kadhai
- Fry the Dink in the ghee until it has turned completely white.
- Ensure that the dink is fried properly till the center.
Step 4 - Frying the Dry Fruits
- Fry the dry fruits in the same ghee used for frying the dink.
- Add the Date powder to the dry fruits and roast for 1 minute
Step 5 - Heating the Jaggery
- Take 3-4 tablespoon of desi cow ghee in the pan
- Add the jaggery to the ghee and melt.
- Do not let the jaggery boil. Just melting is enough
Step 6 - Mixing the ingredients
- Add the dry coconut, poppy and sesame seeds, dry fruits and dink to the jaggery
- Mix all the ingredients well
Step 7 - Making the laddoos
- Take a few drops of ghee on your palms and rub
- Take a spoonful of the mixture in your palms
- Press and roll to make a round ball
- Repeat for making all the laddoos
